Job description

Title: Senior IBM Master Data Management (MDM) & Integration Developer (Contract)

Location: Lansing, MI

Contract Type: 1099 contract - $79/hr

Overview:

State of Michigan DTMB/MDHHS engagement supporting Master Person Index (MPI), the Michigan Index Data Stewardship Portal (MIDSP), and Symmetry applications. This is a senior, lead-level integration and maintenance role - the resource will own enhancement, integration, and support work for MDM systems that feed major downstream applications (Bridges, MiIntegrate, HESB), while also providing technical oversight to business analysts and integrating teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Write high-level functional requirement documents and technical specifications across the full SDLC
  • Support and enhance IBM InfoSphere MDM (Virtual MDM) - data models, entities, transactions, batch processing, configuration, customization, troubleshooting
  • Develop and maintain Kafka-based integrations (topic creation, producer/consumer development, message flow troubleshooting)
  • Work in Linux/Unix environments; write PowerShell and Bash scripts, including CRON job scheduling
  • Write and optimize SQL against Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Manage code in Git/GitHub; support CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar)
  • Support WildFly application server deployments, health checks, and batch processing integration with Kafka and MDM
  • Create and manage certificates on Windows and Linux
  • Partner with DBAs, Infrastructure (Server/Network) teams, and client stakeholders on MPI/MIDSP ticket resolution
  • Design/execute test plans, UAT support, defect tracking, and post-implementation testing
  • Monitor production and non-production environments; support RFC-driven changes and maintain system documentation
  • Deliver monthly reporting on MDM applications

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of enterprise-scale software development experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM v14.x Standard Edition (Virtual MDM)
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years Java/J2EE (Java, JSP, REST/SOAP services) with strong production troubleshooting
  • 5+ years Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting (Bash)
  • Kafka + WildFly integration experience; Zookeeper/KRaft concepts (Strimzi operator)
  • SQL proficiency (Oracle, MS SQL Server)
  • CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps, Azure Git)
  • Cloud/OCP/OpenShift/Kubernetes exposure; AWS/Azure familiarity
  • ELK/Elastic Stack log monitoring across Kafka, WildFly, MDM
  • Flowable development experience (strong plus)
