Overview
As a Sr. Application Administrator/Software Engineer, you will join the RocIT Science team supporting and enhancing a portfolio of enterprise applications and platforms. This role combines application engineering, operational support, automation, and continuous improvement. You will help maintain critical business systems, reduce operational toil through automation, and contribute to modernization initiatives across the application portfolio.
The Enterprise Application portfolio includes Oracle E-Business Suite, Vertex, WebCenter, Frontier, SAP Business Objects, Alteryx, R-Studio, Staffbase, Ivo Assistant, Tability, and OAM SSO.

Responsibilities
  • Application Support: Ensure application availability, performance, and reliability by monitoring systems, resolving production issues, and implementing automation that reduces manual support effort. Use AI-enabled tools and observability solutions to improve incident detection and response.
  • Innovation and Research: Evaluate and apply AI, automation, and development technologies that improve team productivity, operational efficiency, and user experience. Identify opportunities to address technical debt and improve platform sustainability.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation, knowledge articles, operational runbooks, and support materials. Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate to improve documentation quality, accessibility, and maintenance.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide third-level support for complex application and platform issues. Develop automation, scripts, and knowledge assets that improve resolution times and reduce recurring operational work.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in documentation best practices, cross-training, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning across the team.
  • Process and Cost Management: Build and maintain solutions that align with company support, change, security, and operational processes. Identify repetitive activities and automate them where practical.
  • Vendor Liaison: Serve as a primary technical contact for vendor-supported applications, assisting with issue resolution, product upgrades, and roadmap discussions.
  • Environment Management: Manage development, test, and production environments, coordinating application upgrades, patching activities, certificate renewals, and environment refreshes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in application modernization, platform upgrades, patching, certificate management, vulnerability remediation, and other operational improvement initiatives across the application portfolio.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications or business-critical platforms in a production environment.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to improve development, troubleshooting, documentation, or operational workflows.
  • Passion for automation and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Linux administration, Python, and shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including firewalls, load balancers, and TLS/SSL certificates.
  • Experience with authentication technologies including Active Directory, Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth, and related protocols.
  • Experience with APIs, integrations, REST services, or other web service technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Oracle E-Business Suite, or other enterprise SaaS applications.
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, and JSON.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Data Architecture principles and best practices.
  • Experience with Oracle Database and PL/SQL.
  • Cloud platform experience or foundational certification (Oracle, AWS, or Azure).

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the base pay range for this position is $93,590 - $147,070 per year. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
