Location: Rochester, NY , On-SIte

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Compensation: ย $17.00-$21.00 per hour, based on experience. ย

As a member of the I.T. team, the IT Intern is responsible for Help Desk Support and on-going maintenance of I.T. infrastructure through-out the corporation. The Intern works closely with technicians and other System Administrators to ensure the corporate I.T. infrastructure is secure, efficient, and effective in meeting corporate goals and end user requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with other members of the I.T. staff, as well as I.T. Management.
  • Providing support (OS, network, application level) to users with varying levels of ย ย ย ย ย computer expertise.
  • Assisting with the establishment and enforcement of I.T. standards and policies.
  • Willingness and ability to clearly document work processes.
  • ย Ability to keep current with industry standard practices and technology advancements and leverage these within QVI where appropriate.ย 

Requirements


What We're Looking For:ย 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft: Active Directory, Office 365, Windows Server, SQL, and Windows OS is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of administering security infrastructures, such as Internet firewalls, email and web filters, proxies, VPN gateways, and intrusion protection systems is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of VMware vSphere components and administration of virtual environments is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Linux Operating Systems, DNS, DHCP, and IPv4 networking. Knowledge of HPE Comware Products and ManageEngine a plus.
  • ย Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, with technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
  • Positive attitude and work ethic.


Physical and/or Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time (8-hour shift) in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment (computer, keyboard, computer mouse, phone, etc.)
  • Ability to occasionally move about and navigate through the workplace.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects (computer equipment) of up to 25 pounds.
