Job Description:

ย 

Experienced Linux Administrator responsible for maintaining a mixed Windows and Linux system environment. This candidate should understand networking concepts, be capable of performing system patching and STIG hardening, be proficient with deployment using automation tools as well as having experience providing end user support to the desktop level.ย  The person in this position must be able to communicate technical concerns and solutions to varying levels of management and program engineering teams and is also responsible for leading IT projects at the local level.ย  In addition, this position will provide managerial support for 2 on-site system administrators.

Essential Functions:

ย 

  • Responsible for administration and maintenance of Red Hat Linux servers and workstations
  • Ensure compliance with computer security policy, including NIST 800-53 and DISA STIGs
  • Respond to support tickets & interface with users
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards and develop documentation related to the use of computing resources
  • Interact with the business and program leadership to evaluate vendor products and make hardware and software recommendations
  • Managerial support for on-site system administration team to include performance evaluations and budget management.

Qualifications:

ย 

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • 8 years of experience in/with: Red Hat Linux administration, networking (TCP/IP, network interfaces, subnets), shell scripting, troubleshooting, cybersecurity practices (patch management, STIG compliance, system accreditation, etc.)
  • Current/Active Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • CompTIA Security+, CISSP or any DoD 8140 approved certification
  • Ability to function independently with minimal direction
  • Willingness to train and adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to function in a team environment; collaborate with other team members.
  • Good interpersonal skills for interfacing with direct reports, users and business/program management
  • Experience with LDAP, VMware, Citrix, Centrify, VDI
  • Experience with authenticating RHEL logins to Active Directory
  • Automation & enterprise deployment tools (Satellite, Ansible, Kickstart)
  • Knowledge of storage appliances (e.g. NetApp)
  • Familiarity with backup concepts and solutions (e.g. CommVault)
  • Working knowledge of Samba and NFS
