Job description

Link-Belt Cranes is a global leader in the design, manufacture and sales of mobile cranes. Founded 150 years ago, with corporate headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, join an organization that understands its greatest resource is people and they are what makes the difference.
Currently we have an Associate Design Engineer role open. As a member of the Design Engineering team one will design mechanisms, structures and controls for crane products to meet Link-Belt goals of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Environmental.
Essential functions of the position include:
  • Prepare and check complex calculations to determine size, strength or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing product
  • Prepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design policies
  • Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs
  • Interact with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications
  • Prepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design Policies
  • Review and revise bill of materials as needed
  • Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies
  • Prepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness including all necessary dimensions
  • Investigate and design solutions for "sale special" request as needed
  • Investigate field service issues and make recommendations for corrections
  • Support prototype assembly process as needed
  • Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding and machining processes
  • Resolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblers
  • Coordinate the work of other personnel to complete designs

General qualifications for this role:
  • 4 year college degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of one (1) year of proven design or co-op experience
