Job description

Position Summary
The Linen Worker acts as a laundry attendant, ensures that linens, towels, and other fabrics are cleaned, sanitized, and ready for use.
Schedule: Sunday 7am-3:30pm; Monday - Thursday 10pm - 6:30am
Responsibilities
  • Transport filled bins of clean linens

  • Be cognizant of inventory for linen items on linen exchange carts, stationary linen carts, shelves, and closets.

  • Record the quantities of linen items.

  • Load linen items in the cart, shelf, or closet, and ensure the cleanliness of the linen room.

  • Transport filled linen carts to designated distribution locations throughout the Hospital.

  • Communicates with hospital staff

  • Collect soiled linen from the laundry chute for return to the laundry.

  • Receive daily delivery of bulk linen.

  • Promote and act on safety practices yourself, the patients, and your co-workers.

  • Reporting of all incidents following company policies

  • Any other duties assigned explicitly by a supervisor or manager

  • A linen worker must follow safety protocols and guidelines, including using protective equipment such as gloves and masks, handling chemicals properly, and ensuring the safe usage of laundry equipment for its intended purpose.

  • A linen worker may fulfill customer requests for additional linens, towels, or other fabrics. They must also be able to address any concerns or complaints related to laundry services.

Requirements:
  • Be able to walk throughout the Hospital.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand for a long time, stooping and bending at the waist

  • Lift linens and supplies that weigh up to 50 lb. to a height of 5 feet.

  • Push and pull wheeled linen bins and carts weighing more than 600 pounds.

  • Counting and using simple arithmetic

  • Be willing to encounter infectious medical waste (i.e., feces, vomit, blood) while wearing appropriate protective equipment.

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Be able and willing to smile during every customer interaction.

  • Maintain uniform standards while around the account.

  • Be able to pass a criminal background check.
