Overview

The Line Attendant provides essential support to the culinary team, ensuring a seamless flow of operations within the kitchen. The Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment while assisting in high-volume food preparation and meal service. The Line Attendant is a proactive team player who upholds rigorous safety standards and contributes to a positive dining experience for all participants and staff.

Schedule

  • Location: YMCA Camp Marston - Julian, CA
  • 12:30pm - 9:00pm
Responsibilities
  • Executes high-volume prep work, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning vegetables, fruits, and proteins according to recipe specifications
  • Maintains strict adherence to local health department codes, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines, and safety protocols to ensure a sterile and hazard-free kitchen environment
  • Sets up and maintains the salad bar, ensuring ingredients are fresh, labeled, and aesthetically presented
  • Serves meals to participants and staff with a focus on portion control, speed of service, and a professional, courteous demeanor
  • Washes, sanitizes, and properly stores all dishes, glassware, utensils, and industrial cooking equipment throughout the shift
  • Assists with the receiving and unloading of deliveries, ensuring all dry and refrigerated goods are rotated using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method
  • Executes timely disposal of trash, recycling, and organic waste, and ensure disposal areas remain clean and organized
  • Collaborates with cooks and supervisors to adjust priorities during peak service times to ensure a seamless dining experience
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Formal education, usually obtained by a High School Diploma/GED, or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance AND
  • Experience in general kitchen operations, including food handling, portion control, and use and care of basic equipment and utensils
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and includeย subsequentย arrest notificationsย 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained withinย 30 daysย ofย hireย and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:ย 
    • American Red Crossย 
    • American Heart Associationย 
    • American Safety & Health Instituteย
