Job description

ParadigmWorks Group, Inc. is seeking a Cook Helper to join Hartford Job Corps Center's Food Services team. Must have ServSafe certification. Shift: M,W,T,F 6am-3pm; Sun 9am-6pm. $19.23/hour. The Cook Helper takes direction from the supervisor and cooks. Responsiblities include: set-up and breakdown the serving line; set up, dismantle & clean the salad bar; ensure perishable items are rotated at end of shift so only fresh products are served to students. May be asked to wash, cut, and chop vegetables, fruits, meats; prepare dips & condiments; measure ingredients; prepare sandwiches; prep for breakfast; assist on serving line. Must be physically able to operate the dishwasher; wash pots, pans & cooking utensils; wipe & sanitize surfaces; sweep & mop lunchroom and common areas in the kitchen and food prep areas - daily requirements of the job. Also, cleaning garbage cans, taking out trash, and other duties to ensure highest sanitary standards are maintained. Ability to carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstations, stove and refrigerator. Efficiency, cleanliness, ability to operate as part of a fine-tuned team charged with providing appealing and healthy meals to students are a must. ServSafe certification is required. HS or GED.
