Job Summary

This position will assist the Communications & Marketing Department (CMD) in a fast-paced environment, while juggling multiple projects and priorities. It's imperative that the candidate is meticulously organized, adaptable, and relentlessly passionate about producing work that people will love. The Senior Multimedia Editor requires the ability to coordinate and participate in a variety of complex, technical tasks related to the operation of video and editing equipment. It also requires the ability to edit post-production videos, film, and television productions.
This position is responsible for putting together the product as a sequence, which consists of related shots from raw camera footage, while working directly under the supervision of the Brownsville Television Production Manager and Department Director to meet strict deadlines and requirements. The incumbent must also possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of administrators and staff, as well as external stakeholders.
This role is a collaborative champion, working closely and productively with disciplines and key stakeholders in the pursuit of innovative solutions.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills

More specialized skills in a particular type of work; knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, or operations; specialized skills that may be technical or non-technical.
Create and develop multimedia (audio/video) content for the City of Brownsville along with photography content as needed.
Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience.
Take direction and grasp production team's needs and specifications.
Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes' value and contribution to continuity.
Edit video segments in logical and smooth sequence.
Incorporate production elements into edits. Ex: music, dialogues, graphics and effects.
Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process.
Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry's best practices to maximize efficiency.
Proficiency in the current line of Blackmagic Design hardware including ATEM video mixers and Studio Cameras.
High level proficiency in at least one of the major video editing programs: Adobe Premiere Pro, Blackmagic Davinci Resolve, or Apple Final Cut Pro; and a working knowledge of the other two and/or willingness to learn if needed, as well as competence in Adobe Creative Suite for both video and photo editing purposes.
Extensive knowledge of basic video production equipment: cameras, lighting, microphones, and technical support.

Minimum Education & Experience

Requires an Associate's degree, vocational technical degree, or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education.
Requires a minimum of two years of experience in the field.

Special Certifications & Licenses

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Average judgment; must recognize and resolve problems such as bad grammar, type of procedure to apply, where to refer call or correspondence without specified destination, when to change or sharpen blade on mower, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.
