A Day in the Life

As a Laboratory Technician in Richmond, VA, you'll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

The compensation range for this role is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule: Monday - Friday

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Receives environmental samples into the laboratory according toOnterrisSOPs
  • Performs data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS)
  • Label sample containers, store them inappropriate locationsand/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and coordinate ordering as needed
  • Support bottle preparation, including production and shipment coordination
  • Assistwith sample preparation, extractions, and reagent preparation for laboratory use or shipment
  • Perform sample analysis using a variety of laboratory instruments
  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper operation
  • Weigh and process samples
  • pH adjustmentsof sampleswhenrequired
  • Retrieve samples fromwalk instorage areas
  • Assistwith sample management activities, including archiving and disposal
  • Support sample pickup or field sampling when needed
  • Clean laboratory glassware andmaintainorganized, safe workspaces
  • Maintainaccurateand organized records of sample preparation and analysis
  • Collaborate with Group Leaders and analysts to manage inventory of consumables, chemicals, and instrument parts
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and team projects to enhance efficiency and analytical accuracy
  • Follow all Quality Assurance programs, laboratory policies, and Health & Safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Group Leaders or the Technical Director

  • High School Diploma or GEDrequired;Associate'sdegree or relevant technical training preferred
  • Prior laboratory experience is a plus, but notrequired
  • Proficiencywith computers and database systems (LIMS experience preferred)
  • Understanding of general laboratory practices and safety procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Must be able to lift sample containers (e.g., coolers) up to 50lbs
  • Must pass required drug screening
