Job Overview:
This role involves taking x-rays of specified body parts for diagnostic purposes and supporting the imaging department. Responsibilities include performing plain films, fluoroscopy, portable exams, and operating room exams, as well as conducting Bone Density assessments (BD registry required).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicate procedures to patients to ensure clarity and provide relevant educational materials.
- Transport patients to and from clinical areas, confirming their identity in accordance with established protocols. Prepare patients for radiology exams by positioning them appropriately.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure for patients.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the scope of practice and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor patients during procedures and report any unusual activity. Suggest updates or improvements to protocols as necessary.
- Ensure timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
- Verify that equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
- May perform limited CT procedures in emergency situations when the CT Technologist is unavailable.
- Work with a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Education:
- Completion of a Radiology Technology program.
Experience:
