Job Overview:

This role involves capturing x-rays of specific body parts for diagnostic purposes and providing assistance within the imaging department. Responsibilities include performing plain films, fluoroscopy, portable exams, and operating room exams, as well as conducting Bone Density assessments (BD registry required).

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Communicates procedures to patients to ensure they understand, providing relevant educational materials.
• Transports patients to and from clinical areas, confirming their identity in accordance with established policies. Prepares patients for radiology exams by positioning them appropriately.
• Adheres to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure for patients.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Monitors patients during procedures and reports any unusual activity. Reviews protocols and suggests updates as necessary.
• Ensures timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
• Maintains equipment functionality and reports any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment when necessary.
• Keeps the department clean and organized, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
• May perform limited CT procedures in emergency situations when a CT Technologist is unavailable.
• Maintains a state of alertness and safety at all times.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

• Completion of a Radiology Technology program.

EXPERIENCE:

• No prior experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Constant standing and walking.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
• Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
• Frequent auditory skills to detect body sounds and alarms from machinery.
• Regular lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
• Regular reaching, gripping, and data entry on a keyboard.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional visual tasks to identify and differentiate colors.
• Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Rarely kneeling or sitting.
