Job Purpose:

Maintains golf course landscape areas, turfs and grounds with the use of specialized golf course maintenance machines and cultural practice techniques.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains golf course landscape areas, turf and grounds by tilling, cultivating and grading new turf areas, applying prescribed amounts of lime, fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide, mowing rough and fairway areas at designated cut, mowing turf on green and tee areas, digging and raking ground to prepare new greens, grading and cleaning traps, repairing roadbeds, setting up tees and hole locations, trimming decorative trees and brush, and watering turf and grounds as needed.
  • Ensures sprinkler systems are operational by routinely visually inspecting golf course systems, repairing or replacing broken or missing parts, and reporting issues requiring further attention.
  • Assist in the training of team members with turf and grounds maintenance.
  • Maintains safe work and storage areas by observing all applicable local, state and federal safety guidelines and codes while using tools, and organizing and storing tools and equipment.

Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:

Essential:

  • CA Driver's License in good standing.
  • 3-4 years golf course maintenance experience with Turf Management Certification
  • 5-7 years golf course maintenance experience without Turf Management Certification.

Desirable:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Ability to effectively operate specialized golf course equipment like greens mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rollers, blowers and sand rakes.
  • Ability to operate weed eaters, blowers, edgers, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to operate tractors and skip loaders.
  • Ability to drive light duty vehicles.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel and reach.
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members and guests.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure.
