Overall Job Summary

The Store Sales Manager is responsible for leading selling, service, front-of-store presentation, Team Leader execution, Customer loyalty, and sales capability in over $9M stores. The role owns Legendary Customer Experience routines, A+ Coaching, selling metrics, Sales Team training, front-end execution, BOPIS pick execution throughout the day through the Sales Team, and key sales-floor presentation standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

It is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • Use A+ Coaching routines to develop Team Members, improve selling behaviors, and reinforce consistent operating standards.
  • Role applies to over $9M stores in the updated operating model; under $9M stores assign these Sales Manager responsibilities to the Store Manager.
  • Lead Legendary Customer Experience and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors throughout the Sales Team.
  • Use A+ Coaching to develop Team Leaders and Sales Team Members, with focus on selling behaviors, Customer engagement, and execution accountability.
  • Serve as the leader for Team Leaders in over $9M stores and ensure Team Leader ownership of assigned areas is executed.
  • Own Customer loyalty, selling skills, monthly training for Sales Team Members, and all selling metrics including HIGH 5.
  • Build and sustain a culture of product knowledge training with the Sales Team.
  • Maintain mobile merchandisers at the front of store.
  • Maintain Center Court presentation and execution.
  • Maintain Garden Center, Live Goods Center, and Tent standards.
  • Ensure BOPIS picks are completed throughout the day through the Sales Team.
  • Maintain vestibule presentation and cleanliness.
  • Oversee front-end execution, including Cashier daily responsibilities, service expectations, and Customer throughput.
  • Maintain 2-tier and 3-tier baskets according to presentation standards.
  • Own front sidewalk presentation, including signage, in over $9M stores.
  • Own Worksheet Feed/Food Order process in over $9M stores.
  • Support Store Manager with driving sales and profit, planning, Team Member development, and daily execution as assigned.
  • Operate cash register/computer, forklift, and other equipment as needed; assist customers with loading purchases.
  • Complete all documentation associated with the above job duties accurately and timely.
  • Obtain license or certifications as needed by the business.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Experience: Previous retail leadership experience is required. Prior sales and supervisory experience strongly preferred. Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.

Education:  High school diploma or the equivalent is required.  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or related field is preferred. Regardless of education level, you must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

  • Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Experience with customer Service and selling skills.
  • Excels in a fast paced work environment.
Working Conditions
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) lighting and temperature are adequate.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines
  • Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is non-sedentary.
  • It is essential that FAST Team Members have the physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack).
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g. dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register) (forklift and baler requirements do not apply if under the age of 18).
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane, and to dispense propane (propane certification and dispensing requirement does not apply if under the age of 18).
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
  • Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification for various business needs.
