They work with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Using digital tools and virtual communication, they manage schedules, resources, and quality control without being physically present on site. About Ayoroa Simmons

Ayoroa Simmons is one of the most trusted reality capture and BIM firms in the Eastern United States, with a client roster that includes some of the largest AEC organizations in the country and the U.S. Department of Defense. For over a decade, we have delivered surveying, laser scanning, Scan to BIM, and BIM/VDC services as a fully integrated offering, giving project teams the accurate existing-conditions data they need to design, build, and manage with confidence.

With a 35+ person team and a track record on complex institutional, healthcare, and infrastructure projects, we bring the scale and precision standards that this work demands. Ayoroa Simmons is an established firm at a growth inflection point, and we're building toward the clients who need us most.

Position summary

Ayoroa Simmons is seeking a Senior BIM/VDC Project Manager to lead model-based coordination and digital delivery across complex AEC projects, while supporting client relationships, strategic pursuits, and firm growth. The ideal candidate brings technical credibility and client-facing leadership, managing BIM/VDC execution, advising project teams, and representing the firm in pursuits.

This is a fully remote role with some travel expected.

Key responsibilities

BIM/VDC project leadership

  • Align BIM/VDC scope, schedule, budget, and staffing with overall project goals.
  • Lead BIM/VDC execution from pursuit and preconstruction through construction and closeout, including BIM Execution Plans, model coordination strategies, and deliverable schedules.
  • Serve as primary BIM/VDC point of contact for owners, design teams, contractors, trade partners, and internal staff.
  • Establish QA/QC protocols for models, documentation, and coordination milestones; identify risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support and guide Project Leads in running multidisciplinary coordination meetings, clash detection workflows, constructability reviews, and issue resolution, staying actively engaged while empowering Project Leads to own day-to-day meeting leadership.

Client relationships & pursuits

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, design partners, and industry stakeholders; identify opportunities for new work, expanded services, and follow-on assignments.
  • Support go/no-go decisions, capture planning, proposal development, and win strategy for BIM/VDC-related opportunities.
  • Participate in client meetings, shortlist presentations, and pursuit strategy sessions; contribute technical content and value propositions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, translating client goals into BIM/VDC scopes, work plans, and deliverables.
  • Manage assigned consultants and trade partners, including coordination of their scope, project invoicing, and billing.
  • Represent Ayoroa Simmons at industry events and conferences; partner with principals and marketing to align VDC capabilities with firm growth.

Technology, standards & process improvement

  • Develop and maintain BIM/VDC standards, templates, workflows, and best practices across projects and offices.
  • Evaluate and select BIM/VDC software, including Autodesk, Bluebeam, and comparable platforms, to advance leading industry workflows and production.
  • Drive innovation in Revit and coordination workflows, extending the firm's established leadership in scanning and reality capture; implement automation, dashboards, and emerging technologies (4D scheduling, digital twins, reality capture, prefabrication).
  • Train and mentor project teams on coordination processes, tools, and digital delivery expectations.

Team leadership & mentorship

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop BIM/VDC coordinators, specialists, and modelers.
  • Provide technical guidance to project managers, discipline leads, and field teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment; promote knowledge sharing across projects and markets.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience welcomed.
  • 8+ years in BIM, VDC, construction technology, or digital project delivery, including 3+ years leading BIM/VDC on complex AEC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting client relationships, pursuits, proposals, or presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Forma, and similar platforms.
  • Experience developing BIM Execution Plans, clash detection workflows, and model standards.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, commercial, higher education, infrastructure, or mission-critical sectors.
  • Established client or industry network in the Eastern U.S. AEC market.
  • Experience with 4D/5D integration, digital twins, laser scanning, reality capture, or prefabrication workflows.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, automation, scripting, or model-based analytics.
