What are Lighting Project Managers (Remote)?

Lighting Project Managers (Remote) are professionals who oversee lighting projects from a remote location, coordinating all aspects from design and procurement to installation and maintenance. They work with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. Using digital tools and virtual communication, they manage schedules, resources, and quality control without being physically present on site. This role often requires strong project management skills, technical knowledge of lighting systems, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lighting Project Manager (Remote), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lighting Project Manager (Remote), you need expertise in lighting design, project management, and a background in engineering or a related technical field, often supported by a bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or Procore), lighting calculation tools (like AGi32), and relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) is highly beneficial. Job description

The Company
@ ICF Next, we are fearless in finding new ways to solve problems, relentless in making sure it pays off for our clients and committed to making a positive change in the world. Join our community of mission-driven creatives, communicators, strategists, and technologists to challenge the status quo.
The Team
You'll work as the primary point of delivery alongside a cross-functional team of engineers, UX designers and researchers, business analysts, product managers, analytics specialists, content strategists, and accessibility experts. We partner closely with state and federal stakeholders to deliver, enhance, and continuously improve public-facing websites and digital services. Working collaboratively, we bring together strategy, design, and delivery to create holistic, user-centered solutions that meet mission needs, comply with accessibility standards, and drive measurable outcomes.
The Work
In this individual contributor role, you will support the planning and execution of work for two cross-functional delivery teams focused on modernizing existing state and federal digital services and websites that support high-impact public programs. You'll work closely with team members and clients to help prioritize deliverables based on agreed-upon roadmaps, coordinate releases, track dependencies, and ensure work stays aligned to timelines and desired outcomes. You'll partner with a diverse set of stakeholders and decision makers to maintain clarity, momentum, and transparency throughout delivery.
A key part of the work is strengthening how teams operate: refining intake and prioritization, improving Agile ceremonies and ways of working, clarifying roles and decision paths, and establishing repeatable processes for quality, accessibility, and continuous improvement. If you enjoy complex, mission-driven work where thoughtful collaboration and steady delivery discipline make a visible difference, this is a great opportunity to grow and lead.

  • Manage budgets, prepare cost estimates, and track resources using financial management tools
  • Perform continuous risk assessment and mitigation; work with management to identify and remove resource, feasibility, and technical barriers that can impede development
  • Maintain a positive, results-oriented work environment by building partnerships with internal and external partners
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, innovation, and excellence in the work environment and continuously elevate the quality and caliber of the organization.
  • Manage projects independently, be self-motivated to identify and manage risks, and committed to achieving project goals and milestones.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 5+ years project management experience leading digital development efforts
  • At least 1 year working with Drupal or other open source applications
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen, required by the federal government client.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of human-centered design principles and integrating design
  • Demonstrated experience with the software development cycle including working with cross disciplinary teams, including UX and engineering
  • Ability to provide technical strategic guidance to the customer and project team.
  • Experience launching digital solutions, including ongoing analysis and continuous product improvements.
  • Experience managing budgets and resource allocation.
  • Working knowledge of the technical software development process, Agile delivery methods including Agile Scrum and/or Kanban
  • Proficiency working with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Team player with excellent problem-solving and consensus-building skills.
  • Experience working with state and Federal government
