Experienced Journeyman Electrician | Commercial & Industrial
Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour, based on experience
Location: Raleigh, NC 27603 | Projects throughout the Raleigh-Durham area
Position Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Journeyman Electrician to support commercial and industrial electrical projects throughout the Raleigh-Durham area.
This role is ideal for a skilled electrician who can read electrical drawings, plan installations, troubleshoot systems, and complete assigned work with minimal supervision. The right candidate will bring strong field experience, solid knowledge of electrical codes, and a commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot commercial and industrial electrical systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, panel schedules, and construction drawings
  • Layout, bend, and install EMT, rigid conduit, raceways, supports, and electrical pathways
  • Pull, route, splice, identify, and terminate conductors and cables
  • Install and terminate panels, transformers, switchgear, disconnects, junction boxes, branch circuits, feeders, lighting systems, receptacles, switches, and other electrical devices
  • Perform grounding and bonding in accordance with applicable electrical requirements
  • Determine installation methods based on drawings, field conditions, and project requirements
  • Diagnose electrical issues and complete repairs or corrections safely and efficiently
  • Verify completed installations for proper operation and workmanship
  • Coordinate assigned work with foremen, leads, and other trades
  • Assist less-experienced electricians when needed
  • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a safe and organized condition
  • Follow NEC, OSHA, site-specific safety procedures, and required PPE standards
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on electrical experience
  • Strong commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience
  • Journeyman-level knowledge of electrical installation methods and practices
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, layouts, and electrical drawings
  • Strong conduit installation and bending skills
  • Experience with wire pulling, terminations, electrical distribution equipment, and system layout
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Ability to complete assigned work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to accurately measure, calculate, and lay out electrical installations
  • Effective communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus
  • Must have appropriate personal hand tools for the trade
  • Must have reliable transportation to assigned jobsites
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
  • Large commercial construction
  • Industrial electrical installations
  • New construction and renovation
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Lighting and lighting controls
  • Fire alarm or low-voltage systems
  • Equipment and machinery power
  • Complex or mission-critical projects
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical duties associated with electrical construction, with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may include standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, working from elevated areas, bending, kneeling, reaching, using hand and power tools, and safely handling electrical materials and equipment.
