Job description

Electrical Engineer

Seeking an Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems for commercial and educational projects while producing high-quality construction documents. This role is responsible for engineering design, project coordination, mentoring junior staff, and supporting projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical systems for assigned projects, including lighting, power, fire alarm, emergency power, and technology systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations and produce accurate AutoCAD and Revit drawings.
  • Prepare and edit project specifications.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, addenda, and other construction documents.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to verify existing conditions and design intent.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Mentor and supervise EITs, designers, and interns.
  • Participate in client meetings and coordinate with internal and external project teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and client standards.
  • Stay current on industry technologies, codes, and engineering best practices.
  • Support business development efforts through client interactions and industry events as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • EIT (P.E. License preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an MEP consulting environment.
  • 3+ years of overall electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical system design, including:
    • Lighting and lighting controls
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Power and power distribution
    • Emergency power systems
    • Low-voltage and technology systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable building codes.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while mentoring junior team members.
