Job description

Seeking an experienced Exterior Lighting Engineer / Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the design, development, validation, and release of automotive exterior lighting systems including headlamps, taillamps, CHMSL, fog lamps, and license plate lamps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and release activities for exterior lighting components.
  • Develop and review lighting CAD models using CATIA V5, 3DX, and Teamcenter.
  • Perform optical engineering and design-for-manufacturing activities.
  • Support Build-to-Print (BTP) lighting development.
  • Conduct GD&T reviews, packaging studies, and design validation.
  • Create DFMEA, DVP&R, SCCAF, Boundary Diagrams, and P-Diagrams.
  • Perform root cause analysis using 8D and 5 Why methodologies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.
  • Support sourcing, testing, launch, and production activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive lighting design, development, or release engineering.
  • Experience with CATIA, Teamcenter, and CAD modeling.
  • Knowledge of optical engineering, injection molding, and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on laboratory testing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, GD&T, and product development experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exterior lighting design and release experience.
  • DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF, and Six Sigma knowledge.
  • Mechatronics and CAE experience.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of related experience.
