A Day in the Life of an Electrical Engineer at Hanson

Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

This position will be part of Hanson's electrical engineering team that serves local and nationwide clients in support of multiple discipline design and construction projects, including various Departments of Transportation (DOTs), Class I Railroads, United States Department of Defense, Fortune 500 private industry, and many other Federal, state, medical, commercial, industrial and educational facilities. General duties will include the design of power distribution systems on or within airport, commercial, governmental, and industrial facilities; lighting and lighting controls; and integration of fire alarm, voice/data, electronic access controls, multimedia, CCTV, and other low voltage systems. This assignment will involve periodic travel, including out of state travel, to meet project requirements.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of electrical, building, and energy codes
  • Ability to collaborate on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to assume task leadership responsibilities by providing guidance to CAD/Revit technicians and other Engineers/Designers
  • Experience observing field conditions, electrical construction, and the ability to effectively communicate with contractors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong understanding of power system design analysis
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and REVIT
  • Familiarity with Lighting Calculation Software i.e., Visual, AGI32
  • Familiarity with Generator sizing software i.e., Cummins Power Suite, Cat Electric Power Specsizer
  • Familiarity with voltage drop, fault current and arc flash calculators i.e., EDR, Easypower, SKM, Design Master
  • Familiarity with energy analysis software i.e. ComCheck and FLACOM EnergyGauge

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Licensure as a professional engineer in Electrical Engineering or the ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months
  • Minimum of 5 years in the consulting professional services industry, in the Electrical Engineering Discipline
  • Specific technical experience with the preparation of electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittals review and construction administration.

Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000
