YOUR ROLE

Responsible for the safe and efficient movement, loading, unloading, and storage of freight within the warehouse. This role requires operating forklifts and manual materialhandling equipment, performing general labor and warehouse maintenance, and taking full ownership of the assigned receiving area. The position ensures all receiving, documentation, and storage tasks are completed accurately and in alignment with company guiding principles and core values.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Load and unload freight manually and with pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
  • Transport materials to and from designated warehouse locations safely and efficiently.
  • Perform all forklift activities, including handling heavy, oversized, or sensitive freight.
  • Manage and maintain the assigned receiving area with accuracy and organization.
  • Follow correct receiving procedures and ensure freight is stored in the proper location for each account.
  • Receive incoming cargo using manual equipment or powered equipment.
  • Inspect and verify cargo count and condition; determine when to accept with notation or refuse freight.
  • Record all receipts using required forms, logs, and documentation.
  • Verify documentation accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure all freight is correctly labeled and routed to its destination.
  • Sort freight by account or warehouse location and store appropriately.
  • Follow special handling procedures for hazardous, sensitive, or specialized materials.
  • Develop load plans for trucks and containers and anticipate equipment needs.
  • Maintain general warehouse cleanliness and perform warehouse maintenance duties.
  • Assist with light packing and support the export boxing area as required.
  • Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Take responsibility for at least one major account and remain crosstrained on others.
  • Distribute work assignments, provide direction, and assist with training team members.
  • Model and uphold company guiding principles and core values at all times.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related forklift or warehouse experience.
  • Ability to lift light to heavy materials safely.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment including forklifts and manual materialhandling tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Skills:

Forklift Driver Certification; Valid state issued driver's license, preferred. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.  Ability to drive and/or operate heavy equipment. Ability to operate forklift/ Reach Truck, hand truck and pallet jack. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 

Characteristics:

Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs and requests for service and assistance. Ability to command and control workflow processes. Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documentation. Ability to distribute work assignments, provide direction and train employees. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
