POSITION SUMMARY:

The Picker/Packer supports the Shipping Department by inducting orders, accurately selecting products using automated pick systems, and preparing shipments according to established quality and safety standards. The role is responsible for maintaining accuracy throughout the picking and packing process, completing shipping confirmations, and rotating through all department tasks to ensure workflow efficiency and consistent coverage. This position contributes to the overall movement of finished goods through the facility and supports timely and accurate order fulfillment.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Induct customer orders onto automated pick carts according to light assignments and shipping invoices.
  • Accurately pick orders by scanning items, verifying lots, and ensuring correct product placement into customer containers.
  • Audit product quality during the pick process.
  • Complete all picks for each assigned automated cart and move efficiently to the next meeting point.
  • Pack products safely for shipment, including adding required packing material, taping boxes, applying labels, and placing cartons on the takeaway conveyor.
  • Rotate between inducting, picking, and packing tasks to promote safe movement and reduce repetitive strain.
  • Perform shipping confirmations throughout the workday.
  • Maintain speed and accuracy to meet departmental productivity standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Manual dexterity to pick and pack single items and case lots
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. multiple times daily
  • Ability to push 50 lbs. from packing station to conveyor multiple times daily
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods (up to 12 hours as needed)
  • Attention to detail and basic reading and math skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to meet productivity rates after a 90-day probationary period
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to gain general knowledge of computers and the ERP system
  • Ability to identify and correct unsafe practices
  • Minimal forklift experience preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in shipping, warehouse operations, or order fulfillment
  • Experience using handheld scanners, WMS/ERP systems, or automated picking equipment
  • Prior cross-training in warehouse roles
