Trade Marketing Representative (Waco, TX)

What this position is about

ย 

Position is responsible for executing comprehensive sales and merchandising programs for retail accounts, with the explicit goal of increasing sales.ย  The Representative does so using their expertise, discretion and judgment to tailor sales programs to each account.ย  The Representative is responsible for overseeing a geographic territory and is personally accountable for the results in their territory.

The employee will need to travel 25% - 75% (depending on territory size average 1-3 nights per week).

Responsibilities

ย 

Execution planning:

  • Determines visit frequency based on provided "JTI Liggett customer prioritization".
  • Participates in the decision making of what activities should be executed in outlets.
  • Arranges time of visit with customer to get the best impact.
  • Plans for the calls based on sales data (in/out sales) from the Outlet.

Strategic insights & Business advice:

  • Uses local knowledge to identify opportunities to be included into the Cycle Plan.
  • Analyses JTI Liggett activity and program performance for future planning.
  • Monitors Competitor Activity (respective territory and outlet) and Retailer activity.
  • Presents JTI Liggett sales information provided by JTI Liggett Head Office.
  • Educates and influences outlets on the best way to manage the tobacco category.
  • Tactically uses business information (JTI Liggett and retailer) to strengthen selling arguments.

Negotiation & Selling process (Double Win):

  • Negotiates short term sell out volume agreements to increase JTI Liggett sales (eg. Trade marketing programs).
  • Reverts JTI Liggett product placement to agreed planogram.
  • Checks compliance standards versus contractual agreements.
  • Uses an advanced selling process, matching JTI Liggett product benefits to customer needs.
  • Proactively predicts, plansย  and handles objections.
  • Gains commitment to plan by summarising the overall benefit of the JTI Liggett proposal matched to the needs of the customer.
  • Ensure recommended selling price points of JTI Liggett products are correct.
  • Ensure the required JTI Liggett SKUs are listed.

Logistic:

  • Merchandises stock and educates store staff on the importance of availability if required.
  • Takes / Places top up orders on behalf of retailer.

Performance:

  • Assess Individual objectives performance versus planned and looks for future improvement.
  • Records results versus objective in Synergy or similar system.

Other:

  • Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager's request.

Who we are looking for - Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; additional education preferred.
  • Experience in sales CPG are preferred, college graduates are welcomed.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid commercial understanding.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong selling skills, with a focus on the Double Win approach.
  • Knowledge of Synergy (reporting & data).
  • Strong analytical skills.

Physical requirements:

Must be willing and able to:ย 

  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Climb step ladders (up to 10 feet in height).
  • Drive stakes (for signage) into the ground surface.
