Product Training Specialist


Location: Fairfield, OH

Travel: Yes, up to 25%

Department: Product Services  

Reports to: Regional Director, Product Services

Type: Full-time


Overview

The Product Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering product training programs that enable employees, customers, and partners to effectively understand and use company products and solutions. This role works cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and Support teams to translate technical product knowledge into engaging and practical learning experiences.

The ideal candidate combines strong communication and instructional design skills with a solid understanding of customer needs, product functionality, and adult learning principles.


Key Responsibilities

Training Development & Delivery

  • Design and deliver product training programs for internal teams, customers, and partners.
  • Develop training materials including presentations, e-learning modules, videos, job aids, user guides, workshops, and hands-on exercises.
  • Conduct instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced training sessions.
  • Customize training content for different audiences, including technical and non-technical users.
  • Maintain training documentation and ensure materials remain accurate and up to date.

Product Knowledge & Enablement

  • Develop deep knowledge of company products, features, workflows, and customer use cases.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to stay informed on product updates, releases, and roadmap changes.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly training content.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing enablement initiatives for employees and customers.

Learning Program Management

  • Assess training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Continuously improve training programs based on learner needs and business goals.
  • Organize and manage training schedules, records, and learning resources.
  • Support implementation and administration of Learning Management Systems (LMS) when applicable.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Customer Success, Support, and Sales teams to identify training gaps and opportunities.
  • Assist with product launches by developing release training and communication materials.
  • Support adoption initiatives and help drive customer engagement and product utilization.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in product training, technical training, enablement, instructional design, or related roles.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience creating training content using presentation, video, and e-learning tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technology, industrial equipment, renewable energy, or technical product environments.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Experience with video editing, screen recording, or e-learning authoring tools.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to learn complex systems quickly.
