Job Summary:

The Forklift Operator will safely provide timely, efficient loading, unloading, and inventory movement services.

Job Description

Essential Functions
  • Loading, unloading, and movement of all materials for plant and warehouse operations that requires the use of the fork lift.
  • Checking the proper stacking, wrapping, and banding of any materials on skids to ensure its safe transport and storage.
  • Using safety when operating a fork lift and pallet jack and follow all safety procedures and policies.
  • Check incoming product for accuracy in wrapping and labeling as necessary.
  • Lifting of boxes and other materials up to 75 pounds.
  • Inspecting engine oil level and other fluid levels to ensure proper engine performance daily and completing a daily inspection sheet before operating a tow motor.
  • Cleaning fork lift daily, especially dust from the radiator - this must be done daily.
  • Coordinating storage of materials with warehouse personnel.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill's attendance policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by management including unloading trailers by hand.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to work as a team member.
  • Ability to drive a fork lift safely and follow all safety regulations and policies.
  • Must have the ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Must have knowledge of proper methods of lifting, pushing, and pulling materials.
  • Must be able to learn the techniques of the job from short demonstration up to and including one month.
  • Must be able to read and do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Certifications and Licenses

  • Goodwill Fork lift certification is required.
