Job description

About Company:

For almost 90 years, Financial Partners Credit Union has provided banking services to Californians. With generally lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and lower fees than the big banks, we emphasize value while delivering the highest levels of service to our members.

What makes us different from a bank? Part of it is our not-for-profit, cooperative structure. Financial Partners is owned by our members, not Wall Street, so we’re committed to doing what’s best for you, rather than the bottom line.

At the same time, we truly believe that focusing on service and member satisfaction is the right thing to do. Our members aren’t just figures on a balance sheet—our mission is to build lifetime financial partnerships.

Since our humble beginnings, we're over $2.2 billion in assets, with 93,000 members, and branches across California, from South San Francisco to San Diego. But one thing hasn’t changed since eight aviation workers pooled $900 in 1937 to launch Financial Partners: our focus on saving money, making money, and saving time for our members.

About the Role:

The Personal Teller plays a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service by managing daily financial transactions accurately and efficiently. This position serves as the primary point of contact for customers, assisting them with deposits, withdrawals, payments, and account inquiries while ensuring compliance with banking policies and regulations. The Personal Teller contributes to the overall success of the branch by identifying customer needs and promoting appropriate financial products and services. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential to maintain trust and build lasting relationships with clients. Ultimately, the Personal Teller supports the financial well-being of customers and helps foster a positive banking experience within the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math and computer skills with the ability to operate teller systems and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash and financial transactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to banking regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a teller or customer service role within a financial institution.
  • Familiarity with banking products, services, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in using banking software and digital transaction platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
  • Additional certifications related to banking or customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Process routine banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide friendly, professional service to customers by answering questions, resolving issues, and guiding them through banking procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services that meet customer needs and refer them to appropriate specialists when necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with all banking regulations, policies, and security procedures to protect customer information and prevent fraud.
  • Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift and prepare daily transaction reports.

Skills:

The required skills such as attention to detail and strong communication are essential for accurately processing transactions and providing clear, helpful information to customers. Basic computer proficiency enables the Personal Teller to efficiently navigate banking software and complete transactions without errors. Preferred skills like familiarity with banking products allow the teller to better identify customer needs and suggest relevant services, enhancing customer satisfaction and branch performance. Problem-solving skills help in resolving customer issues promptly and professionally, maintaining trust and loyalty. Overall, these skills combine to create a seamless, secure, and positive banking experience for every customer interaction.
