Lifestraw information

What are LifeStraw products and how do they work?

Lifestraw products are portable water filtration devices designed to make contaminated water safe for drinking. They use advanced filtration technology to remove bacteria, parasites, and microplastics from water without the need for batteries or chemicals. Lifestraw filters are widely used by hikers, travelers, and in emergency situations to provide access to clean water. The device works by drawing water through hollow fiber membranes that trap harmful contaminants, allowing only clean water to pass through. This makes them an essential tool for outdoor enthusiasts and those in areas with limited access to safe drinking water.

What are some typical challenges faced by LifeStraw sales representatives when promoting products to new markets?

LifeStraw sales representatives often encounter challenges such as educating customers about the unique benefits of water filtration technology and addressing misconceptions about product usage. Building trust with clients, especially in regions unfamiliar with the brand, requires effective communication and sometimes hands-on demonstrations. Additionally, navigating logistical hurdles, such as distribution in remote areas, and adapting marketing strategies to different cultural contexts are common aspects of the role. Team collaboration and ongoing training are key in overcoming these challenges and expanding market reach.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a water filtration product specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Water Filtration Product Specialist, you need a solid understanding of water purification processes, product specifications, and relevant industry regulations, often supported by a background in environmental science or engineering. Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment, quality control systems, and proprietary filtration technologies is typically required. Strong communication, customer education, and problem-solving skills help you effectively address client needs and provide technical support. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring product safety, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance in the water filtration industry.

Job description

Launch your IT career beyond the ordinary. At LifeStraw, you won't be confined to one specialty-you'll own enterprise systems, ERP, infrastructure, integrations, data, automation, and emerging AI initiatives. If you're curious, driven, and ready to make a visible impact while growing alongside a global purpose-driven company, we want to meet you.
About LifeStraw
LifeStraw is a global leader in water filtration products, serving consumers through major retail partners (Walmart, Costco, Target, REI, Bass Pro), digital channels (Amazon US/CA/EU, LifeStraw.com), and expanding into the home water filtration category. At our core, we are a purpose-driven brand built on a give-back model; every product sold helps provide safe drinking water to communities in need, making impact an integral part of our DNA, not an add-on. We operate with an entrepreneurial, lean team at $50M-$75M in annual revenue and continue to grow. Our technology stack is centered on NetSuite as our ERP, with integrations across e-commerce platforms, fulfillment partners, and analytics tools.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a sharp, curious, hands-on operator to own LifeStraw's IT and business systems environment. This is a build-and-optimize role: you'll inherit a functional but underleveraged technology landscape and make it work the way it should. You'll be the single point of ownership for our IT infrastructure, NetSuite ERP, data integrity, and systems integrations.
This role is ideal for someone earlier in their career who is hungry to own a system end-to-end, thrives in a smaller company where you can see the direct impact of your work, and brings a mix of technical skill and business instinct. We value curiosity, initiative, and a bias toward action. If you're the kind of person who sees a broken process and can't help but fix it, this is your role.
What You'll Do
NetSuite ERP & Data Operations (Foundation)
Clean, reliable data is the prerequisite for everything else: trustworthy reporting, informed IT decisions, and effective analytics. This is where the work begins.
  • Serve as the primary NetSuite administrator: configuration, customization, user management, roles, and permissions
  • Optimize NetSuite to maximize its value across Finance, Inventory, Order Management, Procurement, and other active modules
  • Build and maintain saved searches, reports, dashboards, and KPIs for stakeholders across the business
  • Own data integrity: establish governance practices, run regular data audits, and resolve data quality issues across all connected systems
  • Manage the analytics data warehouse connected to NetSuite, maintain, update, and optimize for reporting and decision-making
  • Coordinate with external NetSuite consultants for complex SuiteScript development or major system upgrades

IT Infrastructure & Governance
  • Conduct a full audit of the current IT environment: contracts, subscriptions, hardware, software, and vendor relationships
  • Identify and eliminate system redundancies, overlapping subscriptions, and underutilized tools
  • Establish IT policies, security protocols, and a technology roadmap aligned with business growth
  • Manage relationships with external MSPs and IT service providers for day-to-day support
  • Own the IT budget and drive cost efficiency across all technology spend

Systems Integration & Automation
  • Own and manage integrations between NetSuite and external platforms (Amazon, Shopify, 3PLs, marketing tools, etc.)
  • Evaluate middleware/integration tools (e.g., Celigo, Dell Boomi) and manage data flows between systems
  • Identify and implement workflow automation opportunities to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency
  • Collaborate with the AI strategy lead to ensure clean, structured data is available for AI and analytics initiatives

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Act as the bridge between technical systems and business stakeholders, translating Finance, Marketing, and Operations needs into system solutions
  • Partner with the VP of Manufacturing & Product on systems supporting the supply chain and inventory
  • Support the Head of Ecommerce and VP of Marketing with analytics, data access, and platform integrations
  • Provide reporting and system support for board-level and investor communications

What We're Looking For
Required
  • 3-7 years of experience in IT, business systems, ERP administration, or a data/systems analyst role
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience: administration, configuration, saved searches, workflows, and dashboards
  • Strong data literacy: comfortable with SQL, analytics tools, and data warehouse concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and fix data quality issues; you've led or contributed to data cleanup and governance efforts
  • Experience in consumer products, CPG, ecommerce, or multichannel retail companies preferred
  • Comfort managing IT vendor relationships and making cost-conscious decisions about technology
  • Excellent communication skills-able to work effectively with Finance, Operations, Marketing, and executive stakeholders
  • Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable operating independently in a lean organization

Strongly Preferred
  • Background in or strong fluency with Finance/Accounting, able to support financial reporting, and understand what the data means in a business context
  • NetSuite Administrator or SuiteFoundation certification
  • Experience managing integrations with Amazon, Shopify, 3PL/WMS systems, and marketing platforms
  • Familiarity with SuiteAnalytics, SuiteScript, or willingness to develop these skills
  • Experience working with external NetSuite consulting partners

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Celigo or similar iPaaS/middleware platforms
  • Exposure to BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
  • Background supporting international operations (multi-currency, multi-subsidiary in NetSuite)
  • Comfort with AI tools and interest in how emerging technology can improve business operations
