Lifeguard Job information

Is 22 too old to be a lifeguard?

Lifeguard jobs typically do not have an upper age limit, and being 22 is generally considered a suitable age for the role. Employers often prioritize certifications like CPR and lifeguard training over age, so as long as you meet the certification requirements, age should not be a barrier.

What is the difference between Lifeguard Job vs Swim Instructor?

AspectLifeguard JobSwim Instructor
CertificationsCPR, First Aid, Lifeguard CertificationCPR, First Aid, Swim Instructor Certification
Work EnvironmentPool, beach, water parksPool, swim schools, aquatic centers
Primary ResponsibilitiesMonitor safety, prevent accidents, rescueTeach swimming skills, improve technique

While both roles involve water safety and require CPR and First Aid certifications, lifeguards focus on monitoring and rescuing in aquatic environments, whereas swim instructors primarily teach swimming techniques. Both jobs are essential in aquatic settings and often overlap in certification requirements, but their main duties differ significantly.

Where do lifeguards get paid the most?

Lifeguards tend to earn higher wages in regions with a higher cost of living and greater demand for aquatic safety services, such as affluent or tourist-heavy areas. Factors like experience, certifications (e.g., CPR, first aid), and the type of facility also influence pay rates, with private clubs and resorts often offering higher wages than public pools. Overall, wages vary widely based on location and employer.
