Job description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a part-time Aquatics Coordinator at our North River Y!

We're in need of someone who has availability during afternoons and evenings either Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday.

As an Aquatics Coordinator, you will assist the Aquatics Director in overseeing and providing leadership to the aquatics department, including lifeguarding, swim lessons, pool maintenance and aquatics programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing member-focused aquatics programs
  • Coordinate/supervise facility rentals
  • Coordinate swim lesson scheduling (group, private, adaptive)
  • Conduct swim lessons as assigned
  • Conduct pool maintenance as assigned
  • Provide additional support and oversight to aquatics team when the Aquatics Director is not immediately available
  • Lifeguard regularly and sub as needed
  • Build authentic relationships with members and help them connect with each other
  • Enforce water safety rules, perform rescues, and provide first aid as needed, prioritizing safety
  • Assist with scheduling and scheduling and coordination of lifeguard training and certifications
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrate leadership, motivation, and expertise required to obtain higher level certifications as guided by the aquatics director to pursue (Lifeguard Instructor, Swim Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, Swim Instructor Trainer, CPO, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned by the aquatics director

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have or have ability to obtain within 6 months: Lifeguard Instructor certification and Swim Instructor certification
  • Must be certified in CPR, AED, Oxygen, first aid, and lifeguard
  • Pool operator certification preferred; Ability to obtain upon hire required.
  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to lift, stoop, bend, and perform necessary physical activities of job
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
