What is a lifecycle manager?

A Lifecycle Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the entire lifespan of a product, service, or customer relationship—from initial development or acquisition, through growth and maturity, to eventual phase-out or renewal. This role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, optimizing processes, and ensuring a smooth transition between each stage of the lifecycle. Their goal is to maximize value, reduce costs, and enhance customer or user satisfaction throughout the lifecycle. Lifecycle Managers are commonly found in industries such as technology, manufacturing, and customer success.

How does a lifecycle manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product or service delivery?

Lifecycle Managers work closely with teams across product development, marketing, sales, and customer support to oversee a product or service from inception through retirement. They facilitate communication between departments, align project timelines, and ensure that each team understands their responsibilities at every stage. This collaborative approach helps identify potential roadblocks early and ensures that customer and business needs are met throughout the lifecycle. Effective Lifecycle Managers often lead regular meetings, coordinate feedback loops, and use project management tools to keep everyone on track.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lifecycle manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lifecycle Manager, you need a strong understanding of product or service lifecycle processes, project management, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in business, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with lifecycle management tools, CRM systems, and certifications like PMP or ITIL are commonly required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help set top performers apart. These skills and qualifications ensure effective coordination, maximize product value, and drive business success throughout the lifecycle.

Lifecycle Marketing Manager

Perry Homes | In-Office Role

This is an in-office role responsible for leading the strategy, planning, and execution of email marketing and content initiatives within Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC). This role owns the vision for how Perry Homes communicates with buyers across their journey - from campaign strategy and content direction to hands-on build and optimization. This position manages the execution of email campaigns, customer journeys, and audience segmentation. This position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Marketing and works hand in hand with the Sr. Director of Digital Marketing, and may oversee coordinators, specialists, or agency partners supporting email and content production.

What You'll DoStrategy & Planning
  • Develop and own the email marketing and content strategy, including messaging cadence, audience targeting, campaign calendars, and journey design aligned with broader marketing and business goals.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director of Digital Marketing to define KPIs, testing roadmaps, and content priorities across the buyer lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for new lifecycle programs, content formats, and personalization strategies to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Lead content planning for email campaigns, ensuring messaging is consistent with brand voice, sales priorities, and community/inventory updates.
Execution & Campaign Management
  • Build and deploy email campaigns and multi-step journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder).
  • Design and maintain automated lifecycle and nurture programs.
  • Oversee the creation of personalized, dynamic email content using SFMC's tools and dynamic content blocks.
  • Manage data extensions, audience segmentation, and list hygiene, ensuring accurate targeting and suppression logic.
  • Ensure lead and contact data flows accurately from Salesforce Sales Cloud into Marketing Cloud, working closely with IT on any integration or data quality issues that affect SFMC segmentation and journeys.
Performance & Compliance
  • Monitor deliverability health, sender reputation, bounce and spam-complaint rates, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Build and maintain reporting dashboards on email and journey performance (opens, clicks, conversions, revenue attribution), translating results into actionable strategy recommendations.
  • Ensure all emails and campaigns comply with CAN-SPAM, CASL, and other applicable email marketing regulations.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Manage and mentor team members and/or agency partners supporting email production and content development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Legal, IT, Creative) on email and content initiatives.
  • Present strategy, performance results, and recommendations to leadership.
