Job description

Immediately Hiring Mechanical Designer / Drafters - Test Equipment!

 We're hiring a Mechanical Designer/Drafter - Test Equipment to provide advanced mechanical modeling and 2D/3D documentation support for aerospace and defense mechanical test systems, ensuring accurate, compliant, and production-ready technical data packages that directly enable validation and reliability of mission-critical defense products.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys hands-on design work, CAD modeling, and supporting real hardware development in a collaborative engineering environment.

Location: Tucson, AZ (onsite). Relocation Assistance Available.
Clearance:
U.S. Citizenship required; Secret clearance (active or obtainable). Strong Preference for Active Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using tools like Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD
  • Develop detailed mechanical drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Support creation and updates of technical data packages (TDPs) and engineering documentation
  • Revise drawings based on engineering changes and design reviews
  • Ensure drawings meet industry standards and manufacturing requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve design clarity, accuracy, and manufacturability
  • Follow CAD modeling best practices to ensure consistency and ease of revision

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting/Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD drafting, or engineering support
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Experience in the creation of dimensioned detail drawings compliant with industry standards
  • Proficiency in updating and maintaining drawings & technical data packages through review cycles and change requests
  • Experience with adherence to modeling best practices to ensure consistent, efficient revisions
  • US. Citizenship required; ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with configuration management processes
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic packaging design
  • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance analysis
  • Experience with Creo / ProE (preferred)
  • Experience creating complete drawing packages / TDPs
  • Exposure to model-based design or model-based engineering (MBE/MBD)
  • Internship or co-op experience in mechanical design or drafting
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments
