POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Packaging and Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing the packaging and warehouse teams. This person will oversee the daily packaging operations to ensure the highest quality beer is safely and efficiently packaged and shipped to taprooms and distributors. You will be responsible for managing the team's development, creating packaging schedules and improving processes. The ideal candidate should have experience in brewery operations, an understanding of packaging equipment, mechanically inclined and experience in large scale packaging operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPACKAGING OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:
  • ? Oversee the packaging process from brite tank to distribution. This includes brite beer, packaging into cans and kegs, cold storage and organization and packaging material sourcing.
  • ? Troubleshoot issues with packaging machinery.
  • ? Day-to-day operations of the canning and kegging lines.
  • ? Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, packaging best practices, and safety protocols.
  • ? Complete packaging production in ERP ? Create finished goods and issue materials
  • ? Create new packaging SKUs and materials
  • ? Trace primary packaging materials
WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT:
  • ? Perform ERP warehouse tasks ? Fulfill and invoice sales orders, create/receive purchase orders, create new merch items, cycle counts on inventory.
  • ? Troubleshooting issues with sales orders with the sales team and distributor.
  • ? Maintain finished goods inventory, rotating stock and keeping beer fresh is a main priority.
  • ? Schedule trucks for distributor pick-ups. Coordinate the truck load capacities with the logistics team. Efficiency with trips is a priority; schedule keg returns or other packaging material pick-ups in the same trip if possible.
  • ? Oversee taproom deliveries and help troubleshoot delivery issues.
  • ? Order (or receive) taproom and sales supplies: ? Coasters, glassware, crowlers, crowler labels, tap handles, stickers, patches, shipping boxes, flight cards, gift cards, NA beverages.
PROCUREMENT/SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:
  • ? Order materials for packaging, including cans, lids, cartons, trays, and any other non-inventory items that are necessary for the final product.
  • ? Maintain inventory at the supplier warehouse as well as our production warehouse. Reduce cash flow strain when possible by stocking enough material that is required to fulfill the packaging schedule.
  • ? Notify vendors of material quality issues and troubleshoot problems that arise
  • ? Implement effective inventory management practices, minimizing waste and maintaining accurate records. More cycle counts.
PRODUCTION PLANNING AND SCHEDULING:
  • ? Assist and create the development of a production schedule to meet sales orders, finished good backstock and tap room demand.
  • ? Create packaging schedule ? Assign tasks from the schedule to the team, and determine start times to complete all tasks.
  • ? Communicate with other departments regarding schedule adjustments.
  • ? Notify the director of brewing of any packaging issues or of any problems with a product in a timely manner.
  • ? Adjust packaging plans based on sales orders and inventory levels.
MAINTENANCE
  • ? Ensure the daily maintenance of packaging equipment to Topa standards.
  • ? Organize preventative maintenance schedules for packaging equipment with vendors.
  • ? Coordinating with suppliers, manufacturers and techs to upkeep equipment quality.
  • ? Perform annual overhaul maintenance of packaging equipment.
TEAM LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT:
  • ? Work closely with operations leaders to hire, train, mentor, and manage high-performing packaging and warehouse teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • ? Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team members' professional growth.
  • ? Foster a safe and inclusive work environment that prioritizes employee well-being and engagement.
  • ? Train new hires
  • ? Perform annual reviews.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL:
  • ? Track daily production and log QA information.
  • ? Performing quality checks ? QA checks on Brite beer before packaging
  • ? QA checks on finished products - CO2, DO and seam checks.
  • ? Troubleshoot any quality issues with the leadership team.
  • ? Follow all established SOPs for packaging.
  • ? Commission new equipment and optimize for quality and efficiency.
  • ? Take the lead on new projects or equipment in the packaging department.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES:
  • ? Drive continuous improvement across packaging processes, equipment, and efficiency.
  • ? Identify opportunities for cost savings, waste reduction, and operational enhancements.
  • ? Implement and update packaging SOPs and worksheets with improvements as needed.
