Job description

Description
The Department of Atmospheric Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the field of Applied Meteorology and Climatology. Applicants will be considered for either tenure-track or tenured Associate Professor or tenured Professor, depending on qualifications. This is a full-time, 9-month position with an anticipated start date during the 2027-2028 academic year.
The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise graduate students. This individual will be expected to lead a research and outreach program in areas germane to high-impact weather in Texas, supporting the land grant mission of the university. In addition to service to the department and college, the appointee's service duties will also include facilitating research interactions with other departments, colleges, and institutions and agencies across the state.
Texas A&M University is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university, within a dynamic and international community. The Department of Atmospheric Sciences has a broad research and teaching program with 23 faculty members, 139 undergraduate and 49 graduate students. The department is also affiliated with the Office of the State Climatologist, the Southern Regional Climate Center, the Texas Center for Extreme Weather, and the Center for Atmospheric Chemistry and the Environment. Teaching and research facilities in the department include two undergraduate computer laboratories, a micropulse lidar, the Houston Lightning Mapping Array, the Weather Center, the Rapid Onsite Atmospheric Measurement Van, automated surface weather stations, and radiosonde systems. The department is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, which offers an array of degree programs and educational facilities. Additionally, the Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing Center maintains several supercomputing clusters that are easily accessible for faculty and student use.
Qualifications
This position requires a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, physical geography, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of relevant experience after obtaining a Ph.D.
