This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Library Services department. The position will remain open until filled, with screening scheduled to begin on 7/30/2026.
Supports all aspects of library service; provides direct service to students, faculty, staff, and the public; assists in materials selection, cataloging, and weeding; instructs groups in the use of the library, especially its electronic resources; cooperates and communicates with faculty in developing assignments, providing instruction, and maintaining areas of subject expertise.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Academic Success and Library Services.
Examples of Duties - Essential Functions
  1. Provides excellent public service to library users.
  2. Answers reference questions from the college, community, and the public.
  3. Develops and implements bibliographic instruction programs, including library instruction courses and orientations.
  4. Works collaboratively to develop strategies for providing bibliographic instruction for distance learning.
  5. Develops library instructional materials and research guides in written and electronic formats.
  6. Trains college employees in the use of library resources.
  7. Participates in the development of the library collection and services.
  8. Collaborates with other faculty in development and support of new curricular areas, building articulations to other departments and institutions, as appropriate.
  9. Travels between campuses for meetings, instructions, reference, and training.
  10. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.
  11. Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional growth plan.
  12. Represents the library and the College to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
  13. Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Screening Criteria
Education: Master's Degree in Library Science required.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Experience: Two years of experience in an academic library, in bibliographic instruction and teaching the use of the Internet.
Knowledge of: Print and electronic library and research tools appropriate to a community college library; instructional methods using a variety of technologies; computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management; curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs.
Ability to: Creatively retrieve information using print and electronic resources; work with the public effectively and diplomatically; teach library and research skills to individuals and groups; learn new technologies quickly and train others in their use; work well with an innovative and flexible staff; develop and complete projects independently; communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse faculty, staff, and student community; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth.
Licenses: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
