WORLDWIDE AIRCRAFT SERVICES PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATION STATEMENT:

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Chief Inspector is responsible to the General Manager for the overall operation of the Quality Control Department and will have the final authority in the releasing to service of airframes, engines, propellers, appliances and the component parts thereof. In addition, the Chief Inspector is responsible in directing, planning and laying out the details of the inspection standards, methods and procedures used by the Repair Station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's specifications and recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Assist, supervise and direct all personnel assigned to the Quality Control Department.
- Prepare inspection work packages for incoming projects.
- Open and close Repair Station work orders for each aircraft.
- Perform incoming/receiving inspection of parts received to assure proper documentation is obtained and parts are in airworthy condition.
- Inspect work completed by technicians. Assure that the responsible technicians properly execute complete entries on forms and work orders used by the repair station.
- Assure that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are completed and executed prior to releasing the product for return to service.
- Determine that all technical data on articles overhauled or repaired by the repair station are kept current with latest revisions. This data includes manufacturer's overhaul manuals, service bulletins, part specifications, related FAA approved data, and other technical data used by the repair station.
- Assure that periodic checks are made on all inspection tools and the calibration of precision equipment used by the repair station and technicians who keep their own precision equipment. Further assure that current records of those inspections and tests are maintained.
- Determine that no defective, unserviceable, or unairworthy parts are installed in any component or article released by the repair station. See that unairworthy parts are segregated and quarantined in such a way as to prevent their reuse as serviceable parts.
- Submit reports of defects or unairworthy condition in accordance with 14CFR 145.221.
- Assure the proper execution of maintenance release and/or FAA Form 337 when required.
- Complete FAA Forms, such as 8130-3, 8130-9 and 8130-6, etc. as needed for each project currently in process.
- Audit aircraft records to determine status of inspections and/or components.
- Create logbook entries for aircraft, engines and propellers following maintenance.
- Maintain and keep current a regulatory library including federal aviation regulations, type certificate data sheets and FAA published airworthiness directives.
- Assure that the proper inspection records, reports and forms used by the Repair Station are available to all inspection personnel.
- Assure that applicable manuals in the Technical Library are currently revised or properly marked as "Reference Only" in accordance with the WASI Repair Station Manual.
- Complete work orders and inspection forms in such a manner that once filed information pertaining to a specific item can be readily located for review.
- Facilitate on-site inspections conducted by FAA Representatives (PMI and PAI).
- Serve as the designated Employer Representative for the company Anti-Drug/Alcohol Abuse Program. Administer any instructions for testing and update audit binder as per quarterly mailings from company consortium.
- Maintain and update a file of subcontract vendors in accordance with FAR 145.217.
- Review and revise Worldwide Aircraft Services, Inc. Repair Station Manual as required.
- Assist the DAR/FAA in obtaining Export Certificates of Airworthiness.
- Assist the DAR/FAA in obtaining Special flight Permits as required.
- Maintain employee training files and assure all required employees/contractors are current in accordance with WASI Repair Station Manual.
- Perform internal compliance audits and surveillance inspection as assigned by the General Manager.
- Responsible for the issuance of Springfield Airport security identification badges and keys. Complete annual "Signatory Authority" training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Certification
- Minimum one (5) year or more of diversified aircraft and engine maintenance and repairs preferred.
- Knowledge of aircraft, accessories, components, fasteners, and other hardware.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge and Experience with the following aircraft are preferred but not required: ATR, Embraer EMB-120, EMB-135/145, Fairchild SA226/227, Saab SF340A/B, S2000, Beechcraft King Air.
- Engine run and taxi qualifications on the aircraft maintained by Worldwide Aircraft Services. Experience in 135, 121 and 145 operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- The Chief Inspector is responsible for all Quality Control personnel.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- RII recognition training
- EWIS training
- Human Factors training
- Repair Station Manual training
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- They may be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
- Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
- Required to operate power vehicles, machinery, various hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
