Job Description Summary
Provides excellent customer service to library patrons and oversight to student workers at the Circulation Desk. Responsible for processing student IDs. Responsible for the physical processing of all library materials. Manages the Reserves collection. Monitors budget expenditures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service: Papercut, check-in/check-out, fine payment, student withdrawals, send faxes, find items in library, answer questions and guide students through library website via phone and in person, resolve patron issues
  • Works with the other Library Clerk in supervising the training of work study students in general Circulation desk duties and correct shelving.
  • Assists in taking reservations for study rooms and the Faculty Development Room.
  • Primary responsibility for processing student IDs. Coordinates workflow, manages equipment and supplies, works with IT and vendor to upgrade system as needed. Coordinates with Student Services and faculty as needed to process large groups.
  • Updates bibliographic records requested by the Director and Instruction Librarian.
  • Prints all labels (spine, pocket, barcodes) required to process new and existing materials Coordinates physical processing of new materials (adding Kapco covers, Colibri covers, special collection labels, etc.) and maintenance on existing materials.
  • Works with the Director on the timely processing of faculty-requested items, donations, and archival materials, and to solve cataloging workflow issues.
  • Maintains and updates the Reserves books, Excel spreadsheet and WMS reserves module.
  • Checks in the new magazines and supervises the student workers in proper shelving of them. Reports missing and duplicated issues to vendor WTCox and tracks responses for resolution.
  • Works with the Director and Business Office on tracking expenditures, placing orders, and monitors magazine and database subscriptions.
  • Maintains and updates procedures manuals for assigned responsibilities.
