Permanent Position we are looking to fill

P1:Monday (10000-1730),Tuesday to Thursday (1630-2030)

Responsibilities for Library Facility Security Guard Security Guard
  • Provide a visible security presence and patrol all floors during operational hours.
  • Control access at library entrances, operate metal detection gates, and welcome visitors.
  • Monitor security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control) and respond to incidents.
  • Collaborate with library staff, Community Safety Hosts, and Crisis Workers to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist the public with information and directions in a professional manner.
  • Follow opening/closing procedures, including securing doors, elevators, and rooms.
  • Maintain visitor/contractor lists, logs, and reports of unusual occurrences
  • Address incidents, provide first aid, and coordinate with emergency teams
  • Write incident reports and communicate security concerns
  • Answer questions in person or by phone
Qualifications for Library Facility Security Guard Security Guard
  • Be authorized to work in Canada
  • Hold a valid Manitoba security license
  • First aid certification an asset
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proficient in basic phone & computer skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills (fluent in English).
  • Skilled in conflict de-escalation, trauma-informed safety, anti-racism, and cultural awareness.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in emergencies.
  • Physically and mentally fit for duties.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude
