Applications are being accepted for the position of Adult Basic Education Tutor at our 1601 West Main Street campus in Mesa, AZ 85201. This is a part-time position, working Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 10:30 AM. with occasional afternoon hours as needed. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong math background.
Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, the Adult Basic Education Tutor will help teach academic subjects such as: English, Mathematics, Science, and History to adult age students. The Adult Basic Education Tutor will meet regularly with students who need help academically and help the students improve their: study skills, organizational skills, test taking skills, note taking skills and time management skills. This position may teach in a classroom setting, study room, library, online or a hybrid setting. The ultimate goal of the tutor is to help improve the students improve their academic success and help them reach their full potential.
Job Type: Part Time, 19.75 hours per week. This is a grant funded position.
Salary: $23.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma Education or equivalent.
  • Strong passion for helping others.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Prints IVP Level 1 fingerprint card - Must be obtained prior to start date.
  • Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience tutoring/mentoring adults who are academically challenged and/or at-risk learners.
  • Foster and/or HSE/GED background
