Job description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to external agencies requesting student information by reviewing student files, validating data, completing forms and verifying student's financial aid eligibility
- Manages and implements Financial Literacy/Default Prevention program
- Manages Policy and Procedure library for financial aid office
- Responds to students and families in a responsive and friendly manner about methods on how to pay for their education and financial aid eligibility. Must have the ability to explain Title IV, state and institutional regulations
- Answers questions, inquiries or requests from students and other authorized parties in writing, in person or over the phone regarding financial aid programs and eligibility application procedures and costs
- Participation in training seminars, conferences, committee meetings in order to maintain current on all Title IV financial aid rules and regulations
- Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
- Maintain financial literacy web page
- Host financial literacy events on campus
- Present to incoming and continuing students on the financial aid process
- Maintains policies and procedures and monitors the department's web content and updates as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
- Advising and Counseling: Serve as primary point of contact for students, families, and campus partners, providing accurate and timely information related to student financial services, including financial aid and student accounts, this can include account inquiries related to FAFSA, Private loan selection, billing and payments.
- Customer Service & Student Engagement: Strong ability to provide compassionate, solution-focused customer service, assisting students and families with financial aid, billing concerns, and payment options. Proficient in crisis management and intervention techniques to support students in financial, academic, or personal distress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- One to two years' experience in higher education or a financial aid office preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Federal Student Aid programs essential
- Working knowledge of Department of Education software
- Workday Student experience a plus
- Required initiative and the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
