Responsibilities
  • Perform circulation and collection services, including the check-out and return of library materials
  • Provide information, referrals, and promotional support related to College of Engineering Library resources and broader Florida State University services
  • Assist users with basic technology troubleshooting and support
  • Contribute to additional library operations and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and common office applications, such as Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace.
  • Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service to library users.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and accurately complete routine tasks.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn library systems, resources, services, and basic technology troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience or familiarity with one or more of the following is preferred but not required:
  • Previous customer service experience through employment, volunteer work, or other public-facing roles.
  • Previous experience working in a library, academic, or higher education environment.
  • Genuine interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
  • Familiarity with library services, resources, or circulation processes.

Anticipated Salary Range
$14 per hour.

Considerations
This is an OPS/temporary job.
Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check .
The schedule is part time and the employee must be willing and able to work at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering campus and available to work the following shifts:
  • Tuesdays: 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Additional hours may be available Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., based on departmental needs and employee availability.
