Job description

South San Francisco Public Library is seeking a collaborative and service-oriented Library Program Manager II with strong leadership skills and a passion for community involvement. The position will lead the Adult Services team in the New Main Library, and continue our tradition of engaging, innovative and diverse programs, services and collections. The New Main Library opened in October 2023 and our brand continues to grow as a community hub for learning, literacy, innovation and fun.

The ideal candidate is an experienced manager who can effectively oversee complex library operations while fostering innovation, equity, and excellent customer service. This individual brings demonstrated ability to lead and develop diverse teams, manage programs and budgets, plan and manage innovative grant programs, and plan, implement and market responsive library services that meet evolving community needs.

Experience: Three years of progressively more responsible professional library experience, with two years in a supervisory capacity.

Training: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in library science, public administration, or related field; a Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association is required.

License: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, appropriate California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
