About Vineyard City

Vineyard City is one of Utah's fastest-growing communities, committed to providing exceptional public services that enrich the lives of our residents. Our library serves as a welcoming community hub where residents of all ages can discover resources, participate in engaging programs, and connect with one another.

We are seeking enthusiastic, customer-focused Library Aide to support daily library operations and help create an inviting, organized, and engaging environment for our community.

Position Summary

The Library Aide supports the daily operations of the Vineyard City Library by providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons, maintaining library collections, supporting library programs and events, assisting with library marketing and social media, and performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties. This position plays an important role in creating a positive experience for patrons while supporting the growth of the City's public library.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcome patrons and provide friendly, professional customer service.
  • Assist patrons with basic questions, directions, and use of library resources.
  • Check library materials in and out using the library circulation system.
  • Shelve, organize, and maintain library materials according to library standards.
  • Prepare new library materials for circulation, including labeling and processing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming library environment.
  • Assist with library programs, special events, and community outreach activities.
  • Support library staff with clerical and administrative tasks.
  • Assist in creating flyers, graphics, and promotional materials using Canva or similar software.
  • Help manage the library's social media by creating content, scheduling posts, photographing events when appropriate, and promoting library services and programs.
  • Follow all library policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Program Support & Community Engagement

Library Aides play an active role in supporting community engagement by:

  • Assisting with the setup, facilitation, and cleanup of library programs and events.
  • Supporting outreach efforts that encourage community participation.
  • Creating promotional materials for library programs and services.
  • Helping maintain an active and engaging social media presence.
  • Assisting with event photography and digital communications when appropriate.
Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in a library, customer service, education, recreation, community programming, or a related field.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of library operations, circulation procedures, and collection organization.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and general office technology.
  • Ability to learn library software and circulation systems.
  • Experience using Canva or similar graphic design software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication.
  • Ability to create engaging promotional content for library programs.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with patrons, volunteers, city staff, and community organizations.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of a growing community library.
Work Schedule

Applicants must be available to consistently work one of the following assigned schedule:

  • Monday–Thursday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Approximately 24 hours per week
Work Environment

Work is performed in a public library and office environment with frequent interaction with patrons of all ages. The position requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting materials weighing up to 20 pounds, and regular use of computers, library software, and office equipment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability are essential in supporting the evolving needs of Vineyard City's growing library.
