This position starts with the 2026-27 school year. This position works Monday thru Thursday, 7 hrs per day, at Dunlap Middle School, $17.30/hr.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Building Principal
Position Objective
To promote and support a well-organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which students can take full advantage of the available resources. To provide immediate and direct support to the librarian and students to support the instruction.
Essential Functions:
  • Follows district, building, and library policies, procedures, regulations, and attendance standards
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of educational and instructional goals and objectives under the supervision of the librarian
  • Operates and cares for equipment used in the library
  • Assists with utilization of library materials in the library, such as inventorying books
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected for all district employees
  • Participates in all in-service training programs, SIP activities, and other professional development activities when approved by administration
  • Processes all resources preparatory to circulation
  • Manages all circulation routines (checking out, checking in, shelving books, compiling overdue notices) of library materials
  • Assists and implements library curriculum as planned by the District Librarian
  • Communicates with district librarian on ways to share newly acquired materials and promote their use
  • Spends a high level of time in direct student contact
Additional Functions:
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Paraprofessional License
Competencies:
  • Knowledge of copier functions
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and programs, including Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of agreed-upon library processes with librarian
    Working conditions
  • Mental Demands: calculating, comparing, organizing, consulting, analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying, coordinating, and implementing
  • Physical Demands: bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity
  • Environmental Conditions: The work is performed primarily indoors; however, outside work is required on occasion. Travel between buildings is a requirement
