Introduction

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) builds community by promoting the joy of reading and learning. Serving as the civic center of the community, LCPL provides free and equal access to a full variety of library resources and innovative technologies to enhance the quality of life and meet the informational, educational, and cultural interests of the entire community.

Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill two full-time Circulaton Library Assistant positions at the Rust Library in Leesburg, Virginia. The ideal candidates are enthusiastic, service-minded, community-oriented, and collaborative life-long learners who embrace the public library's primary role of promoting the joy of reading and learning in the community.
As members of an enthusiastic team, Library Assistants provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions, as well as assist customers of all ages in the use of library resources and technologies. Library Assistants plan and lead programs for children, teen and adult audiences. Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. All staff work in a collaborative environment to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Loudoun County provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma; two (2) years of prior experience providing direct customer service to the public; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Passport Acceptance Agent certification and Notary Public License may be required within one year of hire date. Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required.
