This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) Union and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary; Tuesday through Saturday 7:30AM-7:00PM
LOCATION: Loussac Library, 3600 Denali Street
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
The Marketing Officer develops marketing materials, social media content, short form videos, and participates in outreach events that help grow library use and enhance the positive relationship between the Anchorage Public Library (APL) and the community. Under the direction of the Marketing Supervisor, the Marketing Officer is responsible for: developing original content for both print and digital projects using current design software and web-based services; producing and publishing engaging creative content on all APL's social media platforms; representing the department at various outreach events virtually and/or in-person; contributing ideas for future marketing campaigns; other duties as requested.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
OR
Associate's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
OR
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
Must Possess at time of hire:
State of Alaska Driver's License
Preferences:
3 years social media content creation experience (may be volunteer)
3 years of video content creation experience (may be volunteer)
3-5 years graphic design experience for print and digital (may be volunteer)

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
