Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
An ECAD Librarian is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing electronic component libraries, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with engineering teams to support PCB design processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Library Management: The primary role of an ECAD Librarian involves creating, updating, and maintaining accurate electronic component libraries within ECAD software platforms. This includes managing the lifecycle of components and ensuring that all parts are correctly represented.
  • Collaboration with Engineers: ECAD Librarians work closely with hardware engineers and other stakeholders to ensure that the components meet design standards and requirements. They may also handle library audits and resolve discrepancies as they arise.
  • Compliance and Standards: They ensure that the libraries comply with industry standards such as JEDEC and IPC. This involves staying updated on regulatory requirements and implementing best practices in library management.
  • Research and Development: ECAD Librarians are responsible for researching new components and technologies, integrating them into the library, and ensuring that the library remains current and relevant to the design needs.
  • Training and Support: They may also provide training to other team members on library management practices and assist in the development of design tools and processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Proficiency: A strong understanding of ECAD tools and software is essential, along with skills in 3D modeling and basic drafting. Experience with ORCAD and ALLEGRO software packages.
  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze component data and ensure accuracy in library entries is crucial for maintaining design integrity.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is necessary for collaborating with engineers and other team members.
  • Scripting Knowledge: Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or Perl can be beneficial for automating library management tasks.
  • 3-5 years experience working with an ECAD library, 3D modeling, and basic drafting
  • Experience with ORCAD and Allegro software packages

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years; or equivalent work experience
Base Pay Range: $57,800.00 - $98,300.00 Annually
