College/Department Information
The Augusta University Libraries lead the organization in providing comprehensive resources and services in support of the education, research, and scholarship, clinical care, and outreach and economic development strategic focus areas of our research university and academic medical center.
Job Summary
The main purpose of this position is to perform Information Desk duties,stack maintenance, and other support tasks in Access Services.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform Information Desk duties.
  • Maintain library stacks.
  • Provide general support within Access Services.
RETRIEVE LIBRARY MATERIALS:
  • Shelve materials according to call numbers without errors.
  • Retrieve and reshelve loose library materials daily.
  • Shelf-read assigned stack areas for accuracy as needed.
  • Shift library materials as required.
WEEKEND AND EVENING RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work assigned weekend and evening shifts.
  • Provide guidance to student assistants and/or part-time employees.
  • Maintain effective control of Access Services.
  • Assist Public Safety professionally and promptly in the event of theft.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations when the Administrative Office is closed.
CIRCULATION AND ACCESS SERVICES:
  • Use the Integrated Library System (ILS) to charge, discharge, and renew library materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Edit and create patron records.
  • Add barcodes to library resources and patron records.
  • Perform other necessary ILS functions.
  • Provide basic reference assistance at the Information Desk.
  • Log reference assistance results in RefAnalytics.
  • Complete library maintenance and light housekeeping in common areas for patron comfort and ADA compliance.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient library services and programming.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Some college coursework, Library experience.
