Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Music Library team members assist library customers in research, reserve resources retrieval, circulation desk transactions, and by maintaining the collection so that available resources can be quickly located. 6-8 hours weekly or more as needed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greet customers and be ready to offer assistance
  • Maintain items in course reserves for quick retrieval
  • Conduct customer service desk transactions
  • Provide internet access to campus guests and community customers
  • Shelve books, musical scores, CDs, DVDs, and periodicals in the proper location
  • Suggest resources from the Music Library website (Information Services)
  • Dust and vacuum as needed
  • File chamber music and periodicals back issues when requested
  • "Front" & "face" books and scores for a neat appearance
  • Maintain a neat and orderly environment conducive for study, music listening, etc.
  • Aid students and faculty in the use of the copier/printer
  • Take lost & found items to the university lost & found as necessary
  • Aid the fine arts department in special projects (errands, signage, etc.)
  • Retrieve CDs and DVDs from the shelves behind circulation desk
  • Loan customers Music Library headphones when requested
  • Keep the Music Library Sub Sheet current when requesting a sub
  • Must (occasionally) lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
  • Ability to use computer for basic circulation services
  • Knowledge of basic musical terms and genres (helpful)
  • Detail oriented, ability to file items correctly
  • Customer service experience or orientation
  • Ability to use the internet/website for research
