Job Summary

This is a part-time temporary position. The Library Inventorying & Materials Processing Assistant will inventory materials using Library of Congress standards, pack and label items, and prepare materials for storage, re-shelving, or sale. This position is expected to work approximately 25 hours per week and supports a time-limited library organization project.

Job Duties

  • Remove books and other library materials from shelves
  • Inventory materials using Library of Congress Classification (LCC) standards
  • Verify and update bibliographic records
  • Pack materials in boxes
  • Label boxes clearly
  • Sort and organize materials
  • Maintain inventory logs
  • Transport materials within the facility
  • Assist in identifying duplicate or sale-eligible materials
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to organize and track materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with library inventorying

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of library operations
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills
