Job description

JOB SUMMARY

At Wilson School District, we believe that education should be shaped by a sense of purpose. As the Library Assistant, you will assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which staff and students can make the most effective use of instructional materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Plans, organizes, and completes duties as they apply to the library operation.
  • Processes newly received materials and inventories materials.
  • Processes notices and visual materials under direction of the supervisor (posters, flyers, etc)
  • Supports the Leadership Team with district and state assessments.
  • Assists the MTSS facilitators with testing.
  • Assists with duty coverage.
  • Provides information and help to any teacher or student as needed.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  • Maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

         High school diploma or GED.

         Computer knowledge preferred but not required.

         Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

         Two (2) year degree or actively pursuing post- secondary education.

         Computer knowledge preferred but not required.

         Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

         Prior successful experience in library or assessments work desirable

We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school district in Phoenix, Arizona, established as the seventh school district organized in Maricopa County in 1879 and named for Mr. W. J. Wilson, a school board member. The district name was changed in the mid-1930s to Hawkins School. From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980s and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and, 16th Street to the west.
