Description
Overview
The Circulation Assistant position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and assistance to patrons both in-person and via other forms of communication, answering patron questions, computer assistance, helping patrons navigate the library's collection, and help patrons check out, renew, and return library materials. The Circulation Assistant registers new patrons, informs patrons of library offerings, services, and policies, and assists with maintaining patron records. This position reports to the Manager of Information Services, and includes evening and weekend hours on a rotational basis.
Key Responsibilities
Central functions and responsibilities of this role include:
  • Provides excellent customer service and assistance to patrons
  • Assists patrons with public computers, online catalog, and other resources
  • Performs collection management activities for assigned categories
  • Performs or assists with library closing procedures as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
